What's up with Amerprise? It is now selling its troubled subsidiary, Securities America. I have no doubt that the sale is due to Securities America's legal problems, but Amerprise has been dragged into those problems too. I have a hard time believing that Ameriprise did not have knowledge of two major fraud schemes run by Securities America. There have been a bunch of lawsuits filed against both Securities America and Amerprise. The SEC has also investigated. The lawsuits will cost the shareholders-the legal fees and judgments will waste Amerprise assets. I'm really angry. The easy answer would be to sell the stock, but I'm going to talk to an attorney to see if shareholders can do something to hold the company accountable.
