A general housing boom and a further development of financial products that cater to homeowners (such as home equity loans, reverse mortgages, etc.) in Japan will trigger not only a Japanese spending boom, but a global spending boom as well. If this happens, this will also significantly narrow the Japanese trade surplus.

| Quote: | | In contrast to most other major markets, Japanese real estate remains inexpensive. House prices have lagged the long-run trend implied by per capita GDP and are depressed relative to most other domestic assets. Moreover, small and medium businesses operating in this sector have become increasingly bullish, according to the recent upward adjustment in this component of the Shoko Chukin confidence survey. |

A self-fufilling prophesy as more investors rush into Japanese real estate after a 15-year slump and a gain last year:

Do japanese live in houses???
Real Estate has been singled out by Fukui as a target. It's an excuse to get to "neutral" --Whether he can do anything about it is another question. _________________ Today is the Tomorrow you worried about Yesterday!
