Just finished reading "China Dawn" by David Sheff:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0066621194/qid=1100973475/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/102-4456282-1031339
The book follows the path of a Chinese VC (who got his start because of Sandy Robertson) in his search for investments in Chinese startups during the late 1990s to the popping of the internet/telecom bubble during 2000 to 2001. The book also discusses the founding of companies such as AsiaInfo, Sina, and China Netcom - and it also briefly mentions the "Big Three" - ie. Sina (SINA), NetEase (NTES), and Sohu (SOHU).
The book was published in 2002 - if only I had read it earlier, there may have been a chance I would have invested in any one of those three companies when they were trading at only $1 a share! |
