Will the truth will out?

http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking-news/ci_17919214?nclick_check=1

hile Google has run afoul of the government, it remains popular among elites -- including university students, entrepreneurs and bloggers.

Quote:
"Google is China's window to the world," said Junde Yu, a Beijing-based consultant to Internet and mobile startups. "Google will always present more objective news from overseas. You will not be successful searching for English content on the local search engines."

And it is respected within the industry, even among competitors.

"There is a lot of admiration here at this company for Google," Baidu spokesman Kaiser Kuo said. "It's a real pity what is happening to them. But I don't think it's the end of the road for them."

Nice pure case-study of Clinton era (cross promoted) notion that wealth blossoms forth with ideas--which is the foundation of democratic government.

Good, Google:

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=a_c0xziXCtLA&pos=6

All this talk of a "deal" with china shows how myopic Wall St. can be. They just don't understand principles--either The Goog's or China's. That China did not summarily eject them shows that this umbilical cord to the west still matters to the right populace.

Wouldn't it be something if this began a trend?

Throw in disappointments in iPad and Cisco reimagineering and I don't know how much we get out the Naz this summer.

Now that the china state-planning is the envy of the world (and the "proof" of the great american failure) it would serve well to take a trip back through time when two of the most authoritarian ideological states put their "efficiencies" to work--on the Eastern Front:

Bloomberg reporting that only Yahoo of the twenty-plus espionage-ed companies would align itself with The GOOG on the China syndrome.

Google now says it thinks that its attempt to help bring openness to China has failed.

“We were looking at an environment that is more difficult than it was when we started,” Mr. Drummond said in an interview on Tuesday. “Far from our presence helping to open things up, it seems that things are getting tighter for open expression and freedom.”
