Note that in order to achieve the projected earnings target of $316 million in 2007, oil will need to be at $56.67 a barrel. Moreover, an extra $1 rise in crude oil prices add approximately $40 million in costs to the airline on an annual basis. So if oil stays at current prices, US Airways will continue to lose money in 2007 - even with all its other (optimistic) objectives realized.
