I would like to have RAW (if possible:intraday) historical stock market data in the form of a downloadable file or an API.
Ideally I would like to get quotes for the whole exchange, going back as many years as possible.
Further economical and statistical data concerning those firms would be even better: P/E, RSI, W%R etc...
Since I need this information for a science project please note the following remarks:

1. It should be free. I was thinking this data is common knowledge and open to all people. I am not going to use this data commercially so I would like to avoid paying for it. I managed to get daily quotes from finance.yahoo but I can't get (automated) statistical data like company earnings over the years etc...
2. I don't need the data of the whole market. With this I mean that I only run some tests and that - lets say - the data of 5 companies for a period of 5-10 years would be enough for me.

It would be great if any of you could give me a hint in the right direction! Smile

Thanks! And may Pecunia bless you all!

Hi Micron,

Do you have access to a university or better yet - a business school library? The authority is the CRSP at the University of Chicago. But any university that has a software program like Compustat or Capital IQ should be able to give you what you want.

I don't think there is any free stuff over the web that is good quality data - at least good enough quality to run tests on.

Best of luck,
Henry
