Market not taking this piece of news so well. From Briefing.com:
| Quote: | | General Motors reported May North American sales fell 28%, compared to the expected decline of roughly 20%. Truck sales plummeted 39%, while car sales fell 17%. GM's stock reverses into the red, going from a gain of 4.2% to a loss of 1.4%. |

Best of the loosers in today's sales numbers. "Unleashes" hybrid Escalade at 20mpg highway (which is one of the best "improvements" for any segment) and will sell out the ZR1 at 101K ea to a "select" few--who can double that on a turn-around. Guess they are select.
Would have had to change the grill for another 1mpg. Definitely not the japanese. _________________ Today is the Tomorrow you worried about Yesterday! |

In single digits--don't have to trade against ourselves in the Dow anymore (Though Merrill used the BK word). _________________ Today is the Tomorrow you worried about Yesterday! |

"Recession-Mode"

Maybe the end of GM as we know it but not the end of GM. White collars on the buyout block. I like the bond funds holding GM and Ford debt here. Just went to the antique tractor museum--these brands are indistinquishable from our culture. They have huge built-in markets with every govermental agency in every state and county across the country (except CA CHP motorcycle crews who drive BMWs). All this apart from their growth overseas. When GM cuts its dividend I'll buy the stock--an option at this point. _________________ Today is the Tomorrow you worried about Yesterday! |

Apart from any slowdown in the world--if GM's healthcosts were in line with it's healthcosts in the rest of the world it would've been profitable, in 07.
US automakers invest more in R&D than any other industry (80% staying "home"):

Another whack from GM with an added twist, losses in asia:

Perhaps this says more about asia than it does about GM _________________ Today is the Tomorrow you worried about Yesterday! |
