As I understand it all stocks must go through through the settlement process. It seems like this data would be a treasure trove for various kinds of research. Presumably in theory it contains information on when stock was bought and when it was sold, how much has been accumulated by single entities, etc.

Is this data available in any form - presumably with personal identifiers stripped out?
