LG.Philips LCD to Build LCD Module Plant in Poland
SEOUL, Sept 7 Asia Pulse - LG.Philips LCD Co. (KSE:034220), the world's largest maker of liquid crystal displays (LCDs), said Wednesday it has decided to build an LCD module plant in Wroclaw, Poland, as part of its global strategy to localize production and better serve the needs of customers in Europe.
The LCD giant said in its mandatory filing that it hopes to attain the No. 1 ranking in the world with its first LCD plant in Europe.
LG.Philips LCD currently has only one overseas module plant, located in Nanjing, China. The facility has an annual capacity of 1.5 million-2 million units.
The company is a joint venture between LG Electronics Inc. (KSE:066570) of South Korea and Royal Philips Electronics NV of the Netherlands. |
