Okay, okay, this original article isn't really that interesting. But after reading this article, I went to the website of MSD Capital and I found this very interesting link:
http://www.msdcapital.com/activities.html
Not sure if anyone of you guys on this board have the connections to perhaps even make a pitch to MSD Capital regarding a potential investment. I did notice, however, that the minimum number that are interested in is usually $50 million for equity investments and $25 million for real estate investments.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- The investment firm that manages the private fortune of Dell Inc. (DELL) founder Michael Dell invested $99.5 million in Red Hat Inc. (RHAT), the world's largest distributor of the Linux computer operating system, according to regulatory filings.
Raleigh-based Red Hat disclosed Dell's investment in an April 27 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
MSD Capital manages more than $10 billion exclusively for Dell and his family.
Red Hat spokeswoman Leigh Day and MSD spokesman Todd Fogarty declined to comment Tuesday on Dell's investment.
Shares of Red Hat fell 13 cents to close at $11.24 Tuesday on the Nasdaq Stock Market, near their 52-week low of $10.37. |
