William O'Neil's How to Make Money in Stocks - great book as a general read that's not too intimidating and absolute essential if you're going to use IBD as a resource.

Alan Farley's Master Swing Trader - excellent book on technical trading

I know you're probably not interested in trading the stock market but from a big picture perspective on where our market and economy may be heading you may want to check out John Mauldin's book called "Bull's Eye Investing." He also publishes a free weekly email called "Thoughts from the Frontline." I have always respected his work a lot and in fact will be meeting him on a one-on-one basis during the weekend after next when he comes to Houston.
