NetEase profit jumps on robust online gaming

Up nearly 14% in AH trading. SNDA up in sympathy. Interestingly, the latter has been going down relentlessly over the last few weeks or so on no official news. Sources tell me, however, that there is a rumor flying about that the Chinese government wants to cut down on the amount of time people spend on online gaming. That may be the reason for the drop although it sounds a little bit absurd to me.

NetEase profit jumps on robust online gaming

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 2 (Reuters) - NetEase.com Inc. (NTES.O: Quote, Profile, Research) , China's number-two online game company, said on Tuesday its profit more than doubled from a year earlier, amid robust demand for online games.

NetEase posted a second-quarter profit of $29.3 million, or 83 cents per American Depositary Share (ADS), up 147 percent. Comparable year-ago figures were not immediately available.
