Just wanted to let everyone know that I won't be writing my usual commentary this weekend since I am currently studying for an actuarial exam for this coming Friday. I have therefore asked David Korn of Begininvesting.com to write a guest commentary for us this weekend. I will, however, provide a short update tomorrow here in the discussion forum.
A brief introduction: David Korn is the author of a weekly financial newsletter which is sent via e-mail and is editor of the website, www.Begininvesting.com. His newsletter is focused on personal finance, stock market timing, independent stock market analysis. He also provides a summary and interpretation of the radio show Moneytalk, hosted by Bob Brinker.
David's newsletter has been quoted on TheStreet.com, CBSMarketwatch.com, and he recently appeared as a guest on Paul Merriman's radio show, Sound Investing.
David offers a unique brand of market timing, and has been succesful in identifying some major inflection points in the market. His newsletter has attracted a devoted following, and he prides himself on providing personal responses to every question he is asked. I respect Davidıs work a lot and I have also previously been a guest commentator in his newsletter. |

Don't forget that today's commentary is being written by Richard Faw (see above post) - an ASA and a CFA charterholder. His article is more philisophical in nature - discussing the concept of investing vs. speculating.
Hope you guys will enjoy!

|
|
Just wanted to let you all know that Thursday's commentary will be written by a co-worker of mine from San Francisco. He is a great fan of Warren Buffett and is a very knowledgable guy when it comes to the financial markets. I won't finish taking my actuarial exam until Friday afternoon so you won't see an update from me until next weekend's commentary.
Here is Richard's profile: Richard currently works as a consultant for Mellon Financial Corporation. His primary focus is designing investment strategies for financing corporate benefit liabilities. His client portfolio design strategies range from indexed equity funds and municipal bonds to derivatives and insurance. He is an actuary and CFA Charterholder and can be reached at RichardFaw@comcast.net
I hope you will find both David's and Richard's commentaries interesting and stimulating!

David also mentions the Bulls-Bears numbers in the Investors Intelligence Survey and the AAII Survey in his commentary, so I will just update you on the Market Vane's Bullish consensus number
The latest reading is 61% - a 2% increase from last week. This still isn't the sub-56% (or even lower) reading that I like but for now, we will just take what we can get. I believe the ST environment has turned bullish more or less, but let's see if the market will prove me wrong this week.
Have a great week, everyone!

FYI, David will provide his weekly commentary as well as a primer on the "Six Month Stock Market Timing Strategy," also known as "Sell in May and Go Away."
I just read a draft of this primer from David and it's very informative, and also sweet and short.
David can be contacted at davidk555@earthlink.net. |
