Does the demise of "futurology" signal an advance in understanding amidst more complicated times, or a decline? --A decline in "civilization."
In market terms the farther out a vision is projected the closer it is to disintegration and return of the "now." Taking it day-by-day (not merely by definition) invites volitility before a new trend takes hold.
The Economist has gotten it backwards:
