Often used as a proxy for up-to-date barometer of asian growth story: NSM warned of lower than expected revenues and margin erosion blaming lower than expected shipments in the handset market.

Specifically, NSM said that global original equipment manufactures as well as handset companies in China were responsible for the shortfall. Similar comments were made by RFMD.

China Unicom (CHU) and China Mobile (CHL) reported weak subscriber growth numbers in May. China Mobile reported net GSM subscriptions of 682,000, which is unusually low, while China Mobile had net additions of 5.118 mln which was the slowest since February of 2007.

Nokia's CFO told Bloomberg today.

Growth will come from Asian markets, while European sales will be ``mixed,'' he said. Average selling prices for handsets in China are among the highest in the world, and consumers in Brazil, Russia and India are buying more expensive models, he said.
