Two Louisiana refineries hit by outages
Wednesday July 6, 11:23 am ET
HOUSTON (Reuters) - Electrical power outages in the New Orleans area caused by Tropical Storm Cindy affected at least two Louisiana refineries early on Wednesday morning, according to company spokeswomen.
Operations at Chalmette Refining LLC's 187,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) refinery in Chalmette, Louisiana, were disrupted early Wednesday morning, a spokeswoman said.
Chalmette spokeswoman Nora Scheller did not have information immediately available about which units were affected by power outage.
Electrical power was restored at Murphy Oil's (NYSE:MUR - News) 120,000 bpd refinery in Meraux, Louisiana, a company spokeswoman said.
The company was working to return the refinery to full production, said Mindy West, director of investor relations. An estimate of when the refinery would return to full production was not immediately available.
ConocoPhillips' (NYSE:COP - News) 247,000 bpd refinery in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, was operating normally Wednesday morning, a plant spokeswoman said.
Chalmette Refining is a joint venture between Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE:XOM - News) and Venezuela state oil company Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. |
