Now that we have beaten "The China Story" to death (although I definitely think we are still looking at the beginning stages of the increasing global economic dominance of China), I just thought I'd go ahead and turn to another dynamic region in the world where entrepreneurship and innovation are valued and where things actually get done.
That region is none other than Central/Eastern Europe. Please check out tables 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 on page 2 and 3, respectively, of the following document from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE):

A very compelling story is the country of Estonia. It is a country with very limited energy resources (see: http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/cabs/baltics.html) but have so far been one of the best stories when it comes to a rapid transitition to a market economy.
Just something else to think about this weekend besides the stories of China and India!
Best,
